    The Role:

     

    The Bid Manager will assemble and manage a virtual bid team with the relevant service, product and business knowledge required to prepare a winning bid whilst taking ownership of the end-to-end bid process. The Bid Manager will work with a variety of teams predominately with Sales, Sales Engineering, Finance, Operations, Legal and Compliance, to ensure full bid cycle management and successful deployment transition.

     

    Responsibilities include managing all necessary bid procedures, governance and process, response writing and editing and managing the Bid Library.

     

    This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure with challenging deadlines. It will require strong people management and commercial skills.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage the bid qualification (Bid/ No Bid) process for new opportunities, at the weekly Bid Forum
    • Manage virtual bid teams and inputs from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, product teams, finance, commercial, legal and delivery
    • Lead storyboard sessions with bid/ proposal team members and key stakeholders
    • Prepare and review the commercial aspects of the bid, ensuring all services are included in the final price to the customer
    • Track and manage risk throughout the bid process
    • Contribute to the written proposal – both in terms of content and presentation (such as preparation of a management summary)
    • Proactively develop and manage a network of subject matter experts, by identifying and re-working existing pre-written content where relevant
    • Ensure timely delivery of compliant, commercially sound and professionally-produced bids – regularly managing overlapping or conflicting deadlines
    • Arrange all post-bid reviews with customers, post-contract award
    • Coach sales teams and subject matter experts in persuasive writing and proposal best practice
    • Understand and resolve complex technical, strategic and business issues
    • Communicate and influence at a senior level
    • Manage the bid budget
    • Generate bid reports and prepare a Monthly Bid Management Pack for the Sales Management and Senior Management Teams for analysis

     

    Key Requirements:

     

    • Minimum of 5 years’ Bid Manager experience
    • Proven track record of working successfully in a fast-paced environment
    • An excellent communicator and negotiator who can manage situations and influence others
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Work to time constraints whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail; prioritise tasks and set expectations accordingly, especially under pressure
    • Well organised and a self-motivated team player
    • Good working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint

     

    Nice to Have:

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent or APMP Practitioner/ Professional level accreditation
    • Experience of proposal automation software (or similar)
    • Understanding of MEDDIC Sales Methodology
    • Familiar with Salesforce.com
    • Previously worked in the Software, Telecommunications, Managed Services, Cloud Services, or Hosted Telephony environments
