    8x8, a leader in Cloud Communications, is in need of an IT Desktop Engineer. This position assists staff with technical support of desktop computers, laptops, applications, and related technology. Support includes specification, installation, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines. Analyzes and resolves problems with the goal of eliminating recurrences and reducing user support calls to the IT Service Desk.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assists users with day-to-day IT related problems and questions.
    • Liaise with all support functions within the IT Department as required to facilitate knowledge transfer and knowledge article creation.
    • Works with IT support staff to investigate and implement ways of reducing calls to the IT Help Desk.
    • Assists with maintaining a help desk database of information relating to the support of the users of the Company's Systems.
    • Assists with the publishing of IT department standards, IT security policies, IT purchasing policies, technical hints and tips, and user instructions to Company's INTRANET.
    • Explores, develops and implements (on an on-going basis) ways to improve the user support processes. Participate in root cause analysis of recurring issues.
    • Provide after-hours support as required.
    • Ensures all Service Level Agreements are met and objectives achieved, as they relate to the support of the IT Help Desk.
    • Keeps IT support staff and Information Technology Manager informed of trends, significant problems, unexpected delays or tasks of a critical nature.

    Technical qualities

     

    • Expertise in configurations and imaging for Macs and PCs and laptops
    • Break/fix for various laptops/desktop hardware.
    • Technical skills like trouble-shooting, imaging, configurations, testing, shipping, repair, data
    • Recovery, and asset management.
    • Must have expertise supporting Windows 10 and Mac operating systems.
    • Must have expertise in the latest Microsoft office product suite and Google G-Suite.
    • Expert communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Experience installing software, patches, updates on Desktops, Laptops, Servers
    • Experience troubleshooting basic network, software, printing problems
    • Any experience using 8x8 technologies, a plus.

     

    Qualifications

     

    • 3+ years’ experience working within an IT support environment. Preferably 3-5or more years in a “desk side” hands-on support role
    • ITIL Foundation Certificate
    • Technical qualifications (e.g. Comptia A+; MCP / MCSE / AWS / GCP / Azure)
    • Experience in providing customer focused end user support
    • Strong technical aptitude with a can-do attitude!
